Job Skills / Requirements

We are currently recruiting for a Site Supervisor for the Medicine Hat College. Reporting directly to the Security Programs Manager, the Site Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing on site security services, emergency response and parking at MHC. The hours for the role are traditionally Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00, but applicants must be available to work occasional irregular hours (weekends, evenings and overnights).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following are examples only and are not intended to be all inclusive or restrictive; other duties may be assigned as necessary.

• Assists in the supervision of all Security Guards on site.

• Responsible for the proper execution of assigned duties.
• Responsible for ensuring all new guards are trained to the appropriate site standard.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Maintain a professional departmental, company and community reputation.
• Maintain a regular, consistent attendance record.
• Knowledgeable of, and adhere to, all rules and regulations, policies, and orders.
• Provides protection for Medicine Hat College and all employees and guests of the institution.
• Provides overall protection of company assets.
• Interact with guests, employees and students in a professional manner.
• Interacts with local law enforcement agencies as required.
• May assist in operating the timekeeping system; may handle vacation requests and may be responsible for ensuring coverage for said requests
• Attend and satisfactorily complete, all required training as assigned and required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• A 2-year diploma in Criminal Justice, Policing, or an equivalent recognized course is required. Applicants with 10+ years' experience in the protective services industry will also be considered
• 2-3 years of previous supervisory experience, in a security setting is preferred
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Effective communication, both written and verbal.
• High functionality in a dynamic environment.
• Demonstrated professionalism in all situations and excellent customer service skills
• Ability to walk 18/20km and stairs
• Ability to obtain a valid Alberta security license
• A valid advanced class 5 driver's license
• A valid First Aid, Proserve and Protect Certification is considered an asset
• Must be self-motivated and willing to work with others.
