Commercial/Retail (Working) Site Superintendent
Our (Working) Site Superintendent will be responsible for the supervision of all construction activities that take place on the work site, ensuring high standards of workmanship and safety. Our Site Supervisor will be responsible for the management of all on-site construction sub trades and enforcement of all required safety and work regulation policies in accordance to local Safety Authorities. All work crews and individuals on-site shall take direction from our site supervisor, who is responsible for assigning required work and applying resources to accomplish that work. As our Construction Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for the efficient use of labour, equipment, and materials by the trades, and will report on such things as personnel, costs and safety. Other responsibilities will include the planning and scheduling of work, maintain daily progress and safety records made on the job. As our Working Site Supervisor you will be responsible to carry out some carpentry/drywall work as necessary and assist with on site work. Carpentry/drywall skills and basic tools are considered essential for this position. You will also be required to travel to projects throughout Ontario and Canada for an extended period of time (up to 10 weeks) in order to manage the project. This job will also require you at times to manage projects that are completed through the night time so the ability to adapt to nights for short periods of time is essential. This position requires you to be a "working" Site Superintendent. Core Competencies; - Safety Awareness and Implementation - Client Focus - Communication - Team Work - Quality and Detail Oriented - Tim Management - Adaptability/Flexibility - Creative and Innovative Thinking - Decision Making and Judgement - Planning and Organizing - Problem Solving - Result Focus - Ethics and Integrity - Mediating and Negotiating Job Duties; - Assisting the Project Manager with the initial mobilization and set up of the construction site. - Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency. - Ensure the efficient use of Labour, machines and materials used by trades and crew. - Coordinate the daily progress of, construction trades and subcontractors, and use corrective actions to keep the project on time and on budget. - Assist in the resolution of design issues, change requests, material defects and equipment problems. - Monitor job progress and costs, and provide daily progress reporting to the project Manager. - Provide added carpentry skills where required on site to fill in where needed such as , hang doors, blocking, trim work, minor drywall work, fixture installation etc. - Ensure compliance with the Synerex Construction Group health and safety manuals and reporting requirements. Job Type / Category The commercial retail industry is a very fast moving industry and projects are completed on tight deadlines. Unlike other construction sectors a retail project typically is completed over a 4 to 10 week time period and as our Site Superintendent you understand the importance of these deadlines and how critical they are to our Clients. Some of our projects are also done through the night time to allow the stores to stay open while work is being completed and as such you understand that your position will require you to work during the night on these projects so flexibility is a must. Most of all you understand the need for zero tolerance as it relates to safety on each and every project and that your responsibility includes enduring everyone remains safe on our sites as we all have family and loved ones to return home to each and every day. You are a Team player and are not afraid to get involved on the project in completing tasks either on your own or with other Team members. Required Education, Skills and Qualifications We are looking for an individual who has at minimum 5 years of Commercial Retail Site Supervisory experience. You are a proven leader on managing projects from start through to final completion and key handover. Any certificate within this field will certainly be considered an asset.
