Supervisor: Chief Operating OfficerPOSITION SUMMARYThe Site Security Manager is responsible for overseeing the security operations performed by all Commissionaires assigned to Vancouver Island Department of National Defence sites. This role includes managing a team of security personnel, maintaining the security posture of multiple DND sites, and maintaining a strong working relationship with DND clients. The Site Security Manager reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer of CVIY for the management of the Security Operations.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effective Supervision of Security personnel, to ensure their duties are carried out in accordance with regulations, orders, directives, instructions, and best practices
  • Liaison with the appropriate emergency response agency as directed by the Chief Operating Officer on matters relating to theft, trespass, or other security incidents
  • Ensuring sites are adequately staffed and that all Commissionaires are trained, properly equipped, supported, lead, and capable of performing their duties
  • Apprising the Unit Security Officer on all matters pertaining to depot security and updating them on the need for ongoing adjustments in security and guarding regimens, as well as recommending changes to enhance the security posture of the depot
  • Ensure the administration associated with Security Operations is carried out in accordance with orders, directives, and instructions
  • Ensure the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Base Operations (BOps) Security Office are made aware of any substantive issues or events occurring at the depot
  • The preparation of reports and returns required in the performance of the above duties; and
  • Any other duties as stipulated in Post Orders, or as directed by CVIY, BOpsO, or the COO
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Willingness to complete the Commissionaire Security Officers Course and OFA1
  • In possession of a Level II (Secret) security clearance issued by Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC)
  • Ability to obtain a BC Security Workers License
  • Obtain and maintain a valid DND 404 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
  • Strong security mindset, with excellent knowledge of DND security policies and security requirements associated with varied aspects of operations on DND establishments
  • Recent experience in a military/police leadership role considered an asset
  • Understanding of change management and creating coaching cultures
  • excellent leadership skills to ensure a positive workplace culture through use of
  • Excellent knowledge of training methods and job performance assessments
  • Knowledge of methods for counseling and disciplining employees
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, complemented by active listening skills
  • Professional and sound judgment
  • Superior attention to detail and an ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to operate under stress and tight timelines
