You are a natural leader with a passion for journalism, ready to bring energy and creativity to a dedicated team of professionals. With a keen eye for detail and a drive to craft engaging news content, you thrive on the challenge of delivering compelling stories to our audience.In this role, you will be responsible for building and writing newscasts for both Halifax and New Brunswick. You will collaborate closely with our editorial leaders, journalists, anchors, and technical team to produce strong, impactful newscasts under daily deadlines. This position is classified as Group 4 under the current collective agreement.You will contribute by:The following is a paraphrase of the primary functions, but does not outline all the duties and responsibilities that may be assigned to this position:

• Lead planned production of Global News at 6 for both Halifax and New Brunswick.
• Build news lineups and write news scripts.
• Work closely with the shows technical producers to ensure video elements are prepared for air.
• Monitor daily and developing news stories, updating news content as required.
• Respond quickly, making necessary changes to show content in breaking news situations.
• Work with staff in the field to ensure the best possible on-air content by helping with research and conducting news interviews as required.
• Keep current with local / national news and provide leadership on how to cover these events.
• Develop and maintain a network of contacts.
• Perform other duties as required.

Skills and experience you will bring:

• A degree in Journalism or equivalent Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Applicants must have strong writing and organizational skills and be able to work well under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask and to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Proven leadership and excellent communication skills.
• Strong news judgement with the ability to make quick decisions.
