Reporting to the Director Local Online News, the successful candidate will work closely with the news leadership teams in Western Canada and guide editorial content for news, sports, and weather. This role will be required to participate in the daily editorial agenda for all platforms, placing an emphasis on local news and video content on all digital platforms.You will contribute by:The following is a paraphrase of the primary functions, but does not outline all the duties and responsibilities that may be assigned to this position:

• Works closely with the News leadership teams in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan and reports into the Director Local Online News.
• Oversees the daily editorial agenda for multiple markets, placing an emphasis on local news and video content to serve all digital platforms.
• Helps coordinate daily and future editorial plans with affiliate stations for online coverage.
• Ensures proper editorial resources are assigned to meet the needs of local online content.
• Monitors story development throughout the day and provides guidance to local digital journalists.
• Coordinates resources for all special projects and breaking news.
• Ensure Global News Principles and Practices are strictly adhered to.
• Other duties as required.

Skills and experience you will bring:

• A post-secondary degree in broadcast journalism or a related field.
• An extensive background in daily local news with proven experience in news management.
• Demonstrably strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• An amazing attitude that will engage and motivate teams.
• A track record of creative storytelling and digital skills.
• Must be able to adapt under pressure and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of digital tools and technologies, including all social media and related applications.
• Must be able to handle the demands and pressure of multiple, daily deadlines for digital platforms.
