Summary:

Norsat is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Assistant to work in the Operations Group, reporting to the Demand Planning Manager. The role holder will be responsible for a variety of shipping tasks to support outbound and inbound logistics from and to Norsat. The main tasks for the shipper/receiver include accepting, checking, record keeping, and storing incoming packages and packing, shipping, documentation preparation, and record-keeping of outgoing packages. In addition, the position requires maintaining supply inventory for the warehouse and office and maintaining the overall environment.

The Shipping and Receiving Assistant will work with the Warehouse Coordinator and Logistics Coordinator to assure the proper delivery of all incoming and outgoing packages and actively participate in organizing and maintaining the inventory for the warehouse area.

What You\'ll Do:

  • Managing incoming and outgoing shipments including Purchases (products, materials, and supplies) and collaborators\' packages;
  • Packaging the outgoing shipments;
  • Preparing shipping documents in accordance with packing slips;
  • Collaborating and communicating with the team and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products;
  • Tracking the status of incoming and outgoing shipments;
  • Ensuring floor tidiness and maintaining a clean and neat shipping and receiving area at all times;
  • Participating in warehousing tasks including discarding and recycling cardboard, Styrofoam, and other recyclable material;
  • Unloading trucks and deliveries;
  • Sorting and stocking receivables;
  • Entering inventory storage areas to pick and drop off packages;
  • Engages with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude;
  • Provides backup support for Warehouse Coordinator and Logistics Coordinator;
  • Inspecting and ensuring received and shipped materials are free from damage;
  • Promptly reports any operational issues or equipment failures to the Team Lead or Supervisor to expedite problem resolution;
  • Performs daily inventory count;
  • Organizes and maintains inventory in the warehouse;
  • Adheres to safety and security protocols;
  • Other duties assigned.
What You\'ll Bring:
  • Minimum High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required;
  • Good computer skills;
  • Good physical ability to move moderately heavy and/or bulky materials up to 50 lbs;
  • Experience working with pallet jack and forklift preferred;
  • One year of warehousing experience or 6 months of logistics, retail, or customer service experience is preferred.
