Position Overview

Under the general direction and supervision of the Manager, Energy Centre, the Shift Engineer is responsible for: operating, supervising and maintaining all building essential services systems; operating and maintaining electrical and gas/oil fired boilers; testing all safety devices; handling trouble calls; operating the building computer system; carrying out routine preventative maintenance; providing direction and supervising activities of the 3rd and 4th Class Power Engineers; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Five(5) years experience as a Plant Operator or 2nd Class Engineer.
  • Previous experience as a Shift Engineer, preferably in a health care or institutional setting, will be an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Manitoba Power Engineer Certificate at the Second Class Level, in accordance with the regulations of the Power Engineers' Act.
  • Completion of a recognized technical program, preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Physically able to carry and move loads up to 34 kgms.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
