Job Description


The Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Coordinator (the \xe2\x80\x9cCoordinator\xe2\x80\x9d) will bring a strong intersectional lens and be responsible for ensuring effective day-to-day operations of the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office. The Coordinator will report to Human Director Counsel who provides leadership to the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office and work in a team with other staff working in the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office and within the Department of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Human Rights. This position will work closely with the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Navigator to augment the university\'s current capacity to respond to survivors of sexual violence. The Coordinator will bring expertise in sexual and gender diversity to support the work of the office, be comfortable responding to victims of sexual violence with the support and direction of the SVPR Navigator, and be responsible for establishing and maintaining office procedures and report writing for the office.RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support, advocacy, and information to survivors contemplating or engaged in informal or formal University complaints resolution processes or external investigations and criminal processes (with guidance from the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Navigator)
  • Ensuring services and programming of the office are responsive to the needs of sexual and gender minorities
  • Facilitate referrals to on campus and off campus resources/agencies
  • Represent the University on matters pertaining to sexualized violence with other post-secondary education officials and the larger community
  • Case management responsibilities
  • Assists and provides advice regarding training efforts being carried out in the office
  • Prepares reporting regarding office activities (statistics, annual report, etc)
  • Ensure compliance with all record keeping requirements and confidentiality guidelines
  • Liaises with departments and groups in the university community who would like to consult on the issue of sexual violence, sexual and gender diversity, and related topics
  • Remain current on sexual and gender-based violence prevention research and legislation, provincial strategy and initiatives, and national trends
  • Develops and supports relationships and partnerships cross-departmentally
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors Degree in a related discipline (such as Women\'s Studies, Gender Studies, Human Rights, Sociology, Equity Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Education)
  • A minimum of five years\' experience in areas related to sexual violence prevention, education, advocacy, or similar initiatives
  • Expertise in sexual and gender diversity and intersectionality
  • Understanding of the impacts of trauma
  • Lived experience or expertise in diversity and inclusion an asset
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully within the context of varying beliefs, behaviours, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds
  • Experience working with survivors of sexual violence and/or advocacy to end gender based violence
  • Communication skills to effectively engage community members on what can often be contentious or delicate issues
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office products (Word, PowerPoint)
  • Basic knowledge of adding content to websites using Moodle, SharePoint, MyUPEI or similar an asset
