CCS is a settlement agency providing a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or status.


We are seeking a dedicated team member within the Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) program to support newcomer youth and families with settlement and school-based adjustment. The role focuses equally on guiding youth through post-secondary and financial pathways and connecting them to employment, apprenticeship, and trades opportunities through strong school and community partnerships.

What you will be doing:



Provide assessment, information, and referrals to newcomer youth and parents in school and community settings Organize, plan, and implement group activities to address the needs of newcomer youth, including leadership, career exploration, and life skills development Support newcomer youth in understanding the post-secondary education system, pathways, and financial assistance options (e.g., OSAP, scholarships, and bursaries) Facilitate linkages to youth employment, co-op, apprenticeship, and trades programs in collaboration with community partners Build collaborations with post-secondary institutions, access programs, and community initiatives to enhance awareness of educational pathways and support smoother transitions for newcomer youth Participate in regular program, team, community, and regional meetings Develop and implement community outreach plans to promote CCS programs and services Maintain and update all client information in a customized database Prepare and submit timely statistical and progress reports as required

What are we looking for?



Settlement Counselling diploma or equivalent training in the human services field Minimum of 2 years' work experience in the settlement and/or community work sectors with a focus on youth Knowledge and experience working with diverse groups of youth, including immigrants, refugees, and Indigenous youth, is an asset Strong understanding of post-secondary education systems, financial aid processes, and youth employment, trades, and career pathways in Ontario Experience building collaborations with schools, post-secondary institutions, and community partners to support youth transitions Knowledge of community resources available in Scarborough, as well as the Toronto Catholic District School Board and Toronto District School Board systems Effective communication skills to work with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds Ability to work independently in an off-site, multi-location work environment with minimal supervision while ensuring regular communication with SWIS Program Managers and team Demonstrated interview, assessment, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with schools and community agencies Advanced digital literacy, computer, and software skills; troubleshooting abilities; and willingness to participate in digital transformation initiatives Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); proficient in Google platforms (Forms, Surveys, Meet, etc.), virtual meeting tools, and social media Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and a second language required Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends Clear, mandatory Vulnerable Sector Screening - Police Reference Check Possession of a valid Ontario Driver's License and access to a car is an asset

Salary:

$30.54 to $33.02 based on experience

35 hrs/week; occasional evenings and weekends as required
