Emergency Posting - GGR 270 H1F: Introductory Analytical Methods

Course Description: Theory and practical application of elementary quantitative techniques in geography emphasizing descriptive, inferential and spatial statistical analysis, probability, and sampling.

Estimate of course enrollment: 250

Estimate of TA Support: 680

Class Schedule: Mondays, 3:00pm to 5:00pm

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023

Salary: Sessional Lecturer I - $9,457.89. Sessional Lecturer I Long-term - $9,930.79. Sessional Lecturer II - $10,121.76. Sessional Lecturer II Long-term - $10,326.61; Sessional Lecturer III - $10,362.76. Sessional Lecturer III Long-term - $10,570.02

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum Qualifications: A PhD in Geography or a related field is required. Knowledge of the course topics is required.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience teaching introductory statistics to social science undergraduate or graduate students is preferred. Completion of a professional development course on teaching preferred.

Brief description of duties: Preparing materials for lectures and class discussions; preparing course syllabi and selecting relevant readings; developing, administering, and marking course assignments, tests and exams; test/exam invigilation; holding regular office hours; planning and supervising the work of teaching assistants.
