Course Number and Title: ACT473H1S L5101 \xe2\x80\x93 Basic Ratemaking Methods For P&C Insurance
Course Description: Case study approach to current issues in life insurance, pension consulting and casualty actuarial practice. The focus of the course will be on communication and presentation. This course is Pass/Fail. Not eligible for Credit/No Credit. The course is open to students in the specialist program in actuarial science. Students in the major program in actuarial science can enrol into the course with permission of the department. Note: This course is co-taught (0.25FCE) by sessional instructors.
Estimated Course Enrolment: 30 students
Estimated SIA Support: 20 hours. The availability of SIA support is contingent on class enrolment and class size.
Class Schedule: Mondays 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Tutorial: Wednesdays 5:00pm to 6:00pm
Sessional Dates of Appointment: January 1, 2024 to April 30, 2024 (This course is co-taught 0.25 FCE each)
Salary: $4,728. 95 for Sessional Lecturer I
$4,965.40 for Sessional Lecturer I - Long Term
$5,060.88 for Sessional Lecturer II
$5,163.31 for Sessional Lecturer II - Long Term
$5,181.38 for Sessional Lecturer III
$5,285.01 for Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor\'s degree required in statistics
Preferred Qualifications: Master\'s and PhD preferred, in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Actuarial Science, Biostatistics or related discipline. Note: Applicants may be asked to supply references.
Description of Duties: Preparation and delivery of lecturers in this course. Preparation, supervision and grading of assignments, tests, and final examinations in accordance with university regulations; reporting final grades; counselling students; supervising sessional instructional assistant(s).
