The Department of Sociology and Anthropology of the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for an instructor to teach the following courses in the Winter 2025 Semester. These positions are subject to final budgetary approval.Please note: the courses offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.SOC-3020 Sociological Theory II (3 Credits)This course offers critical assessments of the varieties, structures, and directions of modern social theories, with major emphasis on their relevance and usefulness for understanding contemporary social systems. Three hours a weekSAN 4610 Inequality in Education - online
This course will explore both formal and informal education. The course will focus on inequalities, specifically how social class, race, gender, and sexuality both organize and are organized by educational environments. Three hours a week.SAN3590 Data, Power, and Profit critical approaches to digital capitalism - onlineSociology has a long history of studying how capitalism configures social life. However, the growth of the digital economy centered around data, platforms, apps, smart technologies, artificial intelligence, server farms, innovation hubs, and more has led some scholars to argue that we have moved into a new phase known as xe2x80x9cDigital capitalismxe2x80x9d.Qualifications:Successful applicants will have a graduate degree or a doctoral degree in Sociology or Anthropology. Preference will be given to the qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty Members of the Academic unit.Application Instructions:
