Job Description

The Department of Biological Sciences at Thompson Rivers University is made up of a diverse and collaborative group of faculty offering a BSc. degree with majors in: Biology; Animal Biology; Ecology and Environmental Biology; Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology; and, in collaboration with the Department of Physical Sciences, Chemical Biology. Cross-cutting themes include: the evolutionary frameworks guiding fundamental and applied ecology; responses of humans and diverse living communities to external stressors, including cellular responses; the use of classical and modern statistical, bioinformatic, and genomic tools to interrogate hypotheses and develop solutions for environmental problems. Core to these themes is a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentorship, collaboration within the Department and with colleagues across campus, participation in undergraduate Honors and MSc programs, and developing a positive environment where students are encouraged to grow as independent learners and critical thinkers.


We are currently seeking a Biologist to deliver BIOL1050 - Biology of Humans (3,0,3)(L)


Candidate will be responsible for:


Delivering in-person lectures (3 credits) and preparation (0.75 credit) and leading labs (2 Labs with 2 credits for each- total 4 credits).

Creating, administering and grading quizzes and examinations throughout the semester. This also includes grading laboratory reports and presentations, whether in the lab or lecture setting.

Providing feedback in relation to students' performance and findings in lab

Grading and offering constructive feedback on student-written submissions

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will have completed a PhD in Biology or a related discipline, along with demonstrated teaching experience at the university level.


Applicants with an MSc and demonstrated experience may also be considered.
