SERVER

Brief Description



The position of Server at Cafe Postino involves delivering excellent customer service, taking orders, serving

food and beverages, and ensuring a memorable dining experience for guests. As a Server, you will play a key role in maintaining the overall satisfaction of customers and contributing to the smooth operation of the restaurant.

Tasks



Greet customers warmly, escort them to their tables, and present menus Take food and drink orders accurately, considering dietary restrictions and preferences Provide recommendations on menu items and answer questions about the menu Relay orders to the kitchen and ensure timely delivery of food and beverages to tables Check on guests to ensure satisfaction, address any concerns, and fulfill additional requests Process payments accurately and handle cash transactions Set up and reset tables efficiently, ensuring proper tableware and cleanliness Collaborate with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other servers to ensure smooth service Maintain a clean and organized dining area, including clearing tables and bussing dishes Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper food handling and hygiene practices

Qualifications and Requirements



High school diploma or equivalent. Formal training in hospitality or restaurant service is a plus Must be at least 18 years of age Proven experience as a Server or similar role, demonstrating exceptional customer service Knowledge of food and beverage menu, including ingredients and preparation methods Strong communication skills to interact with guests, take orders, and provide recommendations Ability to handle cash transactions and process payments accurately Positive atitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment Adaptability to changing customer demands and busy periods Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and to carry heavy trays Basic math skills for accuracy and cash handling Servers must have or be willing to obtain Smart Serve Certification within 3 months of the hire date

Lines of Communication



Serving staff report to and are directly supervised by the Front of the House Manager.

Compensation



Servers are paid on an hourly basis as per minimum wage standards in Ontario.

Cafe Postino participates in tip pool sharing. Serving staff are entitled to equal tip sharing for equal hours worked per shift. Bar staff are en)tled to 15-20% of total tips per shift. Kitchen staff will receive 5% of tips per shift. Cafe Postino will make every effort to calculate and distribute tips in a reasonable time frame.

NOTE: Employees are responsible for reporting their tip income on their personal income tax returns.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.20 per hour
