POSITION DESCRIPTION - SENIORS RESOURCE COORDINATOR



South Winnipeg Seniors Resource Council (SWSRC) is a non-profit information and referral hub connecting older adults with community resources to assist them in daily living.

Our Goal: linking older adults with resources available in the community to enhance their well-being.

POSITION SUMMARY:



Reporting to the board of South Winnipeg Senior Resource Council (SWSRC), the Seniors Resource Coordinator is responsible for executing the goals and objectives of the organization. Implements policies established by the board of directors. Provides leadership, direction and guidance of Resource Council's activities. Develops and maintains organizational structure and effective personnel. Coordinates support services for seniors to assist individuals to maintain their independent living status. Represents the Resource Council to regulatory bodies, other agencies, community and civic organizations, donors, funders and supporters, and the general public.

The Resource Coordinator will exercise the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters.

The Resource Coordinator:

Works with the Board of the Council to identify service needs, develop proposals for services and coordinate services that will enhance the health and well being of seniors on the designated geographic jurisdiction.

Maintains information about current resources for older adults, distributes information throughout the community; develops recommendations for programs and community development.

Administers and manages any programs that the organization develops or takes on;

Develops and completes tasks in accordance with SWSRC goals, objectives and strategic plan determined by the Board.

This position is 35 hours per week; flexibility is required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



A. Program development and administration under the guidance of the board.

B. Supervision and administration of the current meal program with the staff.

C. Supervision and management of day-to-day operations of Golden Rule Senior Centre

D. Resource center and information distribution to older adults and community

E. Human Resource and Volunteer Management

F.

Day-to-day administration of South Winnipeg Senior Resource council

G. Establishing and maintaining good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, service providers and the Regional Healthy Authority

H. Provide information and assistance to seniors on an individual basis with tasks.

I. Management of finances according to the requirements set out by the Board.

J. Participates in the development of the Resource Council's budget.

K. Administers all budgets within the Resource Council , under the supervision of the council treasurer.

L. Ascertains the availability of existing resources to meet the identified needs.

M. Reviews program financial reports and participates in variance analysis

N. Identifies and applies for grants and funding opportunities.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:



Post-secondary education or equivalent experience, preferably with older adults and/or community development. Minimum Grade 12 education.

Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profit/ voluntary organizations.

Strong interpersonal skills, with particular emphasis on developing and maintaining a good rapport with older adults, the public, volunteers, and others.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Computer experience in word processing and spreadsheets would be an asset.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Knowledge of financial management

Experience in delivering oral presentations and facilitating groups.

Experience in working with diverse groups, including older adults, volunteers, board members, funding agencies, not for profit and government organizations and service providers.

Understanding of the aging process, current seniors' issues and support services.

Strong administrative and computer skills. Proficient with word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience in website design and maintenance and use of social media would be an asset.

Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Persons Sector Search are required.

Requires a valid Class 5 driver's license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.

Current Food Handler's Certificate or willing to obtain. Experience in food service industry would be an asset.

Strong ability to work independently and take initiative.

Demonstrated track record of initiating and driving project to completion.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with the board and employees to ensure seamless execution of projects and initiatives.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:



No hazardous conditions.

May work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary.

May be required to travel to other jurisdictions as the position duties may require.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
