The Senior Underwriter plays an important part in providing Brokers and Clients with services that enhance the positive image of the AXA XL brand. The role therefore requires a significant amount of interaction with Clients, Brokers and internal stakeholders. Working as part of the Underwriting Team, the role will be focused on securing new business opportunities and managing a renewal portfolio, while providing leading edge solutions for client needs.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

\xc2\xb7 Managing and underwriting a profitable book of new and renewal business per AXA XL guidelines, appetite, and philosophy.

\xc2\xb7 Developing and structuring tailor-made risk solutions to win new business and retain existing customers.

\xc2\xb7 Analyzing risk and determining terms and conditions as well as appropriate pricing in accordance with granted authority and AXA XL guidelines.

\xc2\xb7 Reviewing and approving policy wordings.

\xc2\xb7 Managing global programs, reinsurance cessions and facilitating premium flow within the network.

\xc2\xb7 Ensuring timely service to clients and distribution partners.

\xc2\xb7 Monitoring premium collection according to standards and take actions.

\xc2\xb7 Initiating cross sell opportunities.

\xc2\xb7 Participating in development of risk appetite and underwriting strategies.

\xc2\xb7 Providing coaching and mentoring support to less experienced team members.

\xc2\xb7 Providing information, guidance and advice to clients and brokers.

\xc2\xb7 Monitoring market conditions and activities of existing and potential clients and competitors.

\xc2\xb7 Proactively foster positive relationship with clients to gain full understanding of their needs.

Required Skills and Abilities:

\xc2\xb7 Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree preferred; professional designations CIP, FCIP, CRM a plus.

\xc2\xb7 Extensive experience in the Energy sector \xe2\x80\x93 Renewable energy, power generation, mining and oil and gas.

\xc2\xb7 Thorough technical knowledge of underwriting, rating methodologies, catastrophe modelling and interpretation, forms, and reinsurance concepts.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to deal effectively and respectfully with individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as externally.

\xc2\xb7 Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with other departments.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to work well under tight deadlines, including organizational and time management skills.

\xc2\xb7 High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.

\xc2\xb7 Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to influence as well as challenge others.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent analytical skills.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent marketing, presentation, and negotiation skills.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent relationships with customers, producers, and trading partners.
