JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Manager, Transportation Logistics will lead the transportation logistics team in building efficiencies for transportation processes as well as identifying and implementing cost effective solutions across all transportation modes. The Senior Manager will drive and lead best practices and play a key role in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of logistics by managing the strategic KPI and performance levels, investigating issues and gaps and driving continuous improvement.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Transportation Logistics

  • Manage the logistics strategy by setting KPIs and streamlining transportation routes, shipping modes, frequencies and handling
  • Establish carrier/supplier evaluation criteria and methods of analysis to develop monthly performance scorecards; monitor progress and update performance scorecards
  • Negotiate logistics carrier rates and establish parameters for negotiating terms and conditions
  • Collaborate with key departments to integrate logistics with business systems and processes and evaluate/recommend system improvements
  • Communicate and resolve transportation issues with customer service, warehousing, operations and strategic planning.
  • Monitor market changes and industry data to ensure cost effective and timely solutions are implemented
  • Lead monthly meetings with customer service and transportation providers to review carrier activity, control costs, review incident reports and select service providers based on the monthly performance scorecard
  • Manage interruptions and changing priorities caused by rush orders, white glove service, changeover projects, customer returns, shipping delays and determine optimal solutions
  • Ensure carrier compliance with company policies and procedures for product transit or delivery
  • Maintain and develop positive business relationships with a customer's key personnel (customer service, sales team)
  • Develop reports and dashboards for management and finance review
  • Participate in budget development and monthly status reviews
  • Stay abreast of current legislations and regulations that apply to logistics operations in the supply chain and monitor product import or export processes to ensure compliance
  • Other comparable and related duties, as assigned
Leadership
  • Develop, mentor and coach a team of direct and indirect reports
  • Manage team productivity in a remote/hybrid work environment
  • Manage employee performance, scheduling and conduct employee feedback sessions
  • Create a culture of team engagement focused on KPI's and process improvement
CTPAT
  • Manage Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) certification by maintaining the license, updating the profile, updating SOPs, monitor partners and suppliers, conducting risk assessment on CTPAT account
  • Conduct monthly audits of Mevotech facilities for CTPAT compliance
  • Develop and manage CTPAT training for Mevotech employees
  • Participate in the monthly steering committee meetings and make recommendations for improvements
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelors degree in Logistics or Supply Chain
  • P. Log or CITT Designation is preferred
  • 10 years experience in transportation logistics with expertise in trans-border processes
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Experience in leading teams in remote and hybrid work environments
  • Customer-focused with a strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to build strong relationships
  • Ability to produce accurate and timely reports; strong knowledge of Microsoft Office; (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point etc.)
  • Knowledgeable in ERP and TMS systems, including implementation projects
  • Experience with CTPAT compliance an asset
  • CIFFA certification is an asset
