Zymeworks is proudly headquartered in our brand new, net-zero facility located in the vibrant Main St biotech hub of Vancouver, BC, with operations in Bellevue, WA, Dublin, Ireland, Singapore and the Bay Area, CA.

Work Requirement

This role will be based out of our Vancouver location and is hybrid with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite.

Key Responsibilities

Tax compliance and reporting

• Manage process for preparing and filing Canadian, US and international tax returns, including preparing working papers and coordinating with external advisors
• Manage process for preparing claims for Canadian Scientific Research and Experimental Development tax credits, the US Research and Development tax credits, and the US Orphan Drug tax credits
• Prepare and file non-income tax returns including indirect tax returns such as GST, PST, QST, sales and use taxes, and other related returns as necessary
• Prepare quarterly and year-end tax provisions for audited financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, including financial statement tax notes and required reconciliations
• Liaise with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits of regulatory financial statements to support their review of tax-related financial disclosures
• Support the implementation and compliance of transfer pricing policies and maintain proper documentation
• Remain current with developments in tax accounting under US GAAP, and identify and communicate changes impacting Zymeworks
• Ensure compliance with internal control policies on tax related matters, and identify opportunities for improvement

Tax planning

• Assist with developing and executing tax planning strategies and processes
• Assist with special projects

Education and Experience

• Bachelor\'s degree and a minimum of 3 years\' progressive experience in the Tax function or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in Canadian or US tax
• Experience with SAP and Vertex an asset

Skills and Abilities:

• High attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish collaborative working relationships
• Able to think and act strategically, anticipate road-blocks and map out action plans
• Demonstrated high level of integrity and ethics
