Position Summary
We are currently seeking a
Senior Tax Accountant
who is a strong communicator, a proactive team player, and highly driven to achieve excellence--not only in client service but also in contributing to the growth of the firm. The ideal candidate will have significant experience working in a Canadian CPA firm and demonstrate a deep understanding of public practice.
Note:
While we value diverse experience, preference will be given to candidates with recent Canadian public accounting firm experience.
Key Responsibilities
Review bookkeeping work including bank reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, depreciation, income tax accruals, and intercompany account reconciliations
Prepare and process client payroll using cloud-based payroll platforms
Manage client invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and recordkeeping
Compile CPA-issued financial statements and prepare year-end working papers
Prepare T1, T2, and T3 tax returns, as well as related regulatory forms (T4, T5, HST, EHT, WSIB)
Draft client correspondence and coordinate directly with clients to gather required information
Conduct high-level tax research and respond to client inquiries
Liaise with the Canada Revenue Agency to resolve client tax issues
Report directly to the owner and provide regular updates on engagements
Qualifications
Minimum of
3-5 years' experience
working in a Canadian CPA firm
Successfully completed all educational requirements for CPA Canada
(or equivalent)
High preference
given to candidates who have completed the
CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course
Strong proficiency in
QuickBooks Online
, Microsoft Word, and
advanced Excel skills
Experience using
Intuit Profile
, TaxPrep, or similar tax software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and thrive in a team-oriented environment
Must be able to
commute to our office in Scarborough (Warden & Lawrence)
