Major Duties



Works with the customer and the design team create world class system solutions. Provides guidance and leadership to designers, engineers, construction contractors, maintenance teams and technicians specifically in the area of hot cells and related nuclear containment/isolator equipment design, manufacturing, and implementation. Oversees, conducts and guides the design and development of overall system designs, solutions and process development.

Specific Responsibilities



  • Participate and advise on best practices in incorporating automation and material handling within shielded enclosures
  • Interface with customer process engineers and radiological protection personnel to thoroughly understand process and radiological requirements for equipment designs
  • Provide technical leadership for construction, execution, commissioning, and validation activities.
  • Responsible for learning a customer process and becoming the local expert in it, to support the design and eventually the integration of the machine once it is built.
  • Conduct source term assessments and subsequent radiation shielding analysis and design equipment to minimize dose and contamination risk
  • Utilize Engineering principles and fundamentals for the planning, execution, review and approval of design
  • Willing to work as a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW), and work in radioactive environments including nuclear site work.


Qualifications



Education:
  • A post secondary degree in Systems Design, Engineering Physics, Engineering Science, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Nuclear Engineering or equivalent.
  • A Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario or working towards the same. Note: Engineer title will be permitted for candidates licensed in the province of Ontario.


Experience:
  • Six to ten years of experience in nuclear tooling / equipment development and testing
