Key Accountabilities:
  • Provides technical support for national capital program development and formulation of national strategies to meet operational needs.
  • Prepares detailed plans, procedures, system designs, and specifications for the provision and implementation of software and computer systems to meet operational, technical and safety requirements and align with ISO process.
  • Contributes to large multi-disciplined projects.
  • Provides prompt assistance when requested to investigate technical problems with in-service operational systems , and lifecycle engineering support activities, including reliability analysis.
  • Investigates solutions for end-of-life components.
  • Leads design for system modifications.
  • Actively promotes a Safety and Quality culture within the Specialty which ultimately will be reflected in the quality of the finished product delivered to the client group.
Job Requirements

Education:
  • Graduation with a minimum of a Bachelor\'s Degree from a recognized university in any of the following fields: Systems, Electrical, Electronics, Communications or Computer engineering.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
Experience:
  • 7 years work experience in the planning, design and implementation of safety or mission critical systems.
  • 5 years of experience in Air Traffic Management / Air Navigation / Weather domain.
  • Extensive experience delivering medium to large scale projects without supervision.
  • Extensive experience with system documentation and working with clients to gather and analyze requirements and design specifications.
  • Extensive experience preparing verification procedures.
  • Experience in hardware and software development, testing, and deployment.
  • Experience in the Weather domain is an asset.
Knowledge
  • A strong knowledge of theory and principles of engineering science and of the practices in a specialized field of engineering.
  • A strong knowledge of Professional engineering standards and practice.
  • A thorough knowledge and demonstrated skills in project management methodologies, techniques, and disciplines for large projects.
  • Knowledge of functions and requirements of the company operational groups as related to the systems and equipment for which the Specialty / Sub-specialty is responsible.
  • Knowledge of procurement, financial reporting, and project development processes.
Abilities
  • Ability to apply knowledge and experience to develop new solutions, designs, and plans.
  • Ability to identify problem areas, obtain and analyse data.
  • Ability to analyze user and technical requirements and create test plans, design and requirements documents.
  • Ability to devise and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to lead and establish effective working relations with colleagues and associates.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
