Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Senior Systems Analyst on a permanent basis. This position is open to individuals working from our locations in Edmonton, Alberta or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Teams in these locations currently have flexible work agreements in place and are open to exploring remote work arrangements with candidates. Please note that working from the Edmonton location may require some travel to Saskatoon.

What you'll do:

You will develop and maintain complex system specifications that address business requirements and that fit CRS system and architecture standards. You will perform advanced systems analyst activities and make recommendations in areas that require a high level of technical competency.

  • You will evaluate and assess vendor's service delivery, determine value-added services to the CRS, and make conclusive recommendations for contract approvals. You will present and communicate all aspects of the project to various audiences from the stakeholders of any business unit and fellow team members.
  • You will identify data requirements by interviewing customers, managers and directors, analyze department applications, programs, and operations. You will evaluate existing systems and design proposed systems to maximize productivity and automate current processes.
  • You will be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department
  • You will lead the development of database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • You will act as the primary backup to the Senior IT Energy Systems Analyst position. Monitoring and supporting the IFC Fleet system database and associated dataflows.
  • You will be responsible for the diagnosing, escalation and resolution of data related issues and handheld services provided to retails by In-Store Solutions. This would include data pushed to internal resources and outside vendors through methods such as FTP, SFTP and API.
  • You will be responsible for all data transfer between the FCL mainframe and TGP servers as well as between TGP servers and 100+ retails ensuring that TGP data standardization is in line with FCL standards while working towards a unified system within the CRS

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Information Technology and:
  • You have a bachelor's degree in Computer science or related technical discipline.
  • You have 6-9 years of experience in computer systems analysis or data analysis (will consider candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience). Experience in data transfer or IT projects implementation is required
  • Experience with an understanding of point-of-sale systems, pin-pads and payment solutions are an asset.
  • Any of these certifications would be an asset; MS-SQL (MCTS/ MCITP), in Oracle (OCP/OCM) or IBM DB2.
  • You have strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
