Job Description

Senior Superintendent - Prefab Concrete High-Rise (Saskatoon, SK)

Company:

Goodwerk Construction

Location:

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (Full-time, on-site)

About Goodwerk

Goodwerk Construction is a vertically integrated builder specializing in

high-density, multi-residential, and student housing

projects across Canada.
We combine

development, design, construction, and operations

under one platform to deliver projects that are efficient, resilient, and built to last.

Our upcoming

10-storey prefabricated concrete high-rise

in Saskatoon (285 units / 670 student beds, with two levels of underground parking) represents a

flagship project

for our prefab platform -- and we're building a top-tier leadership team to deliver it.

The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Superintendent to partner with the Construction Director in leading all on-site operations.

You will take ownership of day-to-day site coordination, civil and structural works, site logistics, and field leadership, ensuring that every phase of construction aligns with Goodwerk's standards of safety, quality, and schedule excellence.

This is a key leadership role for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial, organized, and forward-thinking environment, using lean construction principles, Last Planner methodology, and scrum-style planning to drive performance and accountability.

Key Responsibilities1. Field Leadership & Execution

Oversee all daily site operations from mobilization through occupancy, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and to specification. Work directly with the Construction Director to plan sequencing, manpower, logistics, and priorities for each construction phase. Manage day-to-day execution of concrete, structural, envelope, and MEP scopes, maintaining flow between trades and minimizing downtime. Supervise and mentor the site leadership team, including Assistant Superintendents, Coordinators, and Foremen. Lead daily huddles, coordination meetings, and 2-6 week lookahead sessions to maintain schedule alignment. Facilitate and track Last Planner commitments; measure weekly progress using key production indicators. Proactively identify and resolve conflicts or delays before they impact the critical path.

2. Site Logistics & Civil Works

Develop and continuously update site logistics plans, including crane locations, access routes, staging, and laydown zones. Oversee civil works and underground infrastructure, including excavation, shoring, utilities, storm/sanitary tie-ins, backfill, grading, and paving. Coordinate with civil and structural engineers to validate tolerances, sequencing, and design changes. Plan and manage temporary systems -- hoarding, heating, water, power, and dewatering -- ensuring site readiness through all seasons. Monitor delivery routes, material storage, and hoisting to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient site.

3. Scheduling & Production Planning

Collaborate with the Construction Director to maintain and drive the master project schedule. Lead pull planning sessions to identify task dependencies, manpower needs, and milestone risks. Translate the master schedule into daily and weekly commitments through scrum-based production planning. Track and report actual progress against the schedule; implement recovery plans as needed. Hold trades accountable to sequence, durations, and productivity benchmarks.

4. Trade Coordination & Quality Control

Manage the workflow and performance of all subcontractors and suppliers on site. Ensure trades are executing to approved drawings, specifications, and QA/QC requirements. Review and sign off on inspections, testing, and mock-ups to ensure compliance. Support the Construction Director in scope review, gap analysis, and field coordination. Verify completion of work before releasing payments or moving to the next phase. Lead regular site walks and ensure deficiencies are tracked and closed promptly.

5. Safety, Compliance & Culture

Champion Goodwerk's safety-first culture, ensuring all workers understand and follow OHS procedures. Conduct regular toolbox talks, inspections, and safety audits in coordination with the Safety Officer. Ensure site documentation -- permits, hot work, confined space, and lift plans -- is accurate and up to date. Promote a respectful, professional, and collaborative site culture that mirrors Goodwerk's core values.

6. Reporting & Communication

Maintain clear, daily communication with the Construction Director, consultants, and ownership. Provide daily site reports, progress photos, and manpower logs. Attend and lead coordination meetings with consultants, engineers, and city inspectors. Represent Goodwerk with professionalism, accuracy, and accountability in all interactions.

Qualifications

12+ years of progressive experience in multifamily, high-rise, or institutional construction, with at least 5 years as a Superintendent or Senior Superintendent. Proven ability to manage complex civil, structural, and finishing scopes on projects valued $30M-$80M+. Strong technical background in concrete structures, civil infrastructure, and site logistics. Experience with prefabricated or precast concrete assembly and crane coordination. Hands-on experience implementing Last Planner System, scrum, and lean construction principles. Proficiency with Procore, Fieldwire, PlanGrid, and MS Project. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
