Position Description

Emtec is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to join us on a full time bases. In this role you will be leading the software engineering group wholly responsible for one of the domains of the product. You will be collaborating with product and engineering to scope, prioritizing and designing features for your domain, as well as managing a group of highly motivated software engineers and engineering managers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Managing a group of highly motivated software engineers and engineering managers (approximately 30-40 engineers), as well as collaborating with offshore support team.
• Adapting your communication style and management methods to meet the unique needs of the individuals you manage.
• Working with product to help plan the roadmap, prioritize technical debt and chores against feature work, and ensure proper SDLC is being followed by product and engineering.
• Working with Staff and Principal engineers on system solutions for the entirety of the domain and continually improve based on new learnings.
• Being present and assisting in production issues as needed.
• Our managers are technical and while you will not be expected to code, you will be expected to read code, sift through logs, run bash commands, run SQL queries etc. to support your teams.

Must Have Skills:

• 8+ years of overall software development experience
• 3-5 years of experience managing engineering teams
• Strong architecture and system design acumen, especially with respect to distributed systems, and event driven architecture
• Experience working with following technologies: Node, GraphQL, Kafka, NoSQL, SQL, Kubernetes
• Ability to read code, sift through logs, run bash commands, run SQL queries etc.
• Experience with logistics domain is a plus
• Experience managing offshore teams is a plus
• Strong communication skills
