Department Overview

Credit Risk Model Group (CRMG) provides subject matter expertise and creates a broad range of quantitative and qualitative models to support business and risk decisions.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate is expected to have:

  • A university degree in Finance, Statistics, or a related discipline. A relevant professional designation (MBA, FRM, CFA) will be considered a plus
  • Strong working knowledge and 3+ years extensive hands-on experience using MS Excel, MS Access, Python, R Language and or SQL in the context of data manipulation, data mining, statistical analysis, and predictive modelling
  • Proficiency and extensive experience in creating and manipulating large data sets for data mining and statistical modelling from various internal and external source systems
  • 3+ years of progressive work experience in a commercial/corporate banking function
  • Working knowledge of Commercial Banking and TD Securities credit products, policies, and practices
  • Working knowledge of concepts and methodologies, such as non-retail credit risk scoring techniques, used in the assessment of credit risk
  • Working knowledge of Basel parameters (PD, LGD, EAD)
  • Strong problem solving skills, ability to independently identify and solve problems in an effective and timely manner
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral), ability to effectively present technical, business, and project management subjects to multiple stakeholders

  • Participate in the development, tuning, and model documentation for new or amended Borrower Risk Rating (BRR), Facility Risk Rating (FRR), and Expected Loss (EL) models
  • Engage with working groups of subject matter experts to ensure that all credit risk models are current and take into account best industry practices and standards
  • Review and understand risk rating methodologies of public rating agencies (Moody's, S&P, Fitch, DBRS) and identify potential gaps with internal models
  • Review and complete robust documentation for all models, ensuring it is up to Model Validation and Model Risk Management standards. Reports include Model Development Reports, Annual Review Templates, and others as needed
  • To participate in updating the RiskAnalyst Peer Group database to facilitate comparative analysis on a quarterly basis
  • To maintain the integrity of client information in tne BRR and FRR databases, and to ensure that corporate compliance requirements related to client information are maintained on an ongoing basis
  • To work closely with Credit Risk Policy in the launch of new initiatives or reviews, and to work extensively with TDBNA to ensure enterprise wide models are consistent cross-border
  • To participate in extensive testing with Corporate Segment Technology Solutions (CSTS) to ensure that models meet design specifications and are operating as expected
  • Create and manipulate extensive data spreadsheets for the purpose of model tuning, stress and sensitivity testing, and other model development purposes
  • To maintain quarterly reporting to the Executive Steering Committee, including the Model Review Calendar, and One-Time Requirement tracking list
  • Ensure that all model One-Time Requirements are closed by MVM on time
  • To participate in data mining and data cleansing as required for model validations
  • To participate in the model validation process as required, including providing documentation, expertise, and data for MVM
  • To complete ad hoc analysis in a timely manner as requested
