Our Talent Acquisition solutions include Executive Search, Professional Search & Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO). This position will work in the Executive Search area, where we identify and attract the right senior leaders to make a difference in organizations and help them achieve their business goals faster.

The role of Research Associate is critical for the identification and development of candidates, development of client-facing presentations, as well as assisting our consultants with market intelligence and development of presentations/proposals for business development purposes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary focus of this role is supporting the practice of preparing for business development meetings and delivering on executive search projects. Typical job focus includes:
  • Preparing company overviews for account teams
  • Researching companies and developing target lists
  • Identifying potential candidates from a variety of online and proprietary tools
  • Preparing client-facing research presentations such as market mappings and scans
Business Development Support: Actively participates in designing the search and business development strategy with the Partner and Consultant; proactive involvement as a valued team contributor throughout the search process from pitch to candidate development.

Candidate ID: Provides research to support candidate identification and business development activities of the local office and/or specialty practice. Develops appropriate candidate "target" lists using the phone, print materials, and a wide range of online information resources.

Internal/External Meeting Participation: Participates in kick-off meetings, suggests possible targets, and attends applicable sector and practice meetings/calls.

Client and Candidate Service: Develops a full understanding of the search and the research needs of internal clients; develops confidence and trust of both internal and external clients.

Market Intelligence: Teaming up on "proprietary" market intelligence projects within a sector and/or COE "minor"; proactively identifies and tracks the organizational, industry, and/or functional trends and reports findings.

Database Entry: Consistently inputting and updating candidate records in Korn Ferry's proprietary candidate management system.

Technology Skills: PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, as well as such databases as Capital IQ, Factiva and Lexis-Nexis, are a plus.

Intelligence and Intellectual Curiosity: Must be genuinely interested in learning about people, business, and industry characteristics/needs, and in particular, must be interested in developing a mastery of the Canadian Board and CEO landscape (including those working at this level, those aspiring to be CEOs and/or board directors, and the issues facing these constituencies) . Need the ability to quickly learn industry fundamentals and understand criteria for success. Importantly, it must have a high "EQ" (Emotional (Maturity) Quotient). Need sufficient conceptual skills to understand broad industry concepts and analytical skills to "drill down" to determine the depth of experience.

Contribution to Resources: Conducts a thorough evaluation of the outcome of research provided on a search and ensures that results are recorded in Searcher. Actively contributes to the practice knowledge system and to practice and research meetings.

Entrepreneurial Spirit: Works with minimal direction; is a self-starter. Provides meaningful feedback and, when appropriate, offers value-added suggestions for approaching the search in a different way.Provides research support in business development efforts.

Efficiency and Need for Closure: Works with multiple managers and prioritizes tasks effectively. The ability to understand that Korn Ferry is a business and needs to complete searches quickly and at the highest quality standards while making a profit consistent with the value delivered.

Persistence and Thoroughness: Ability to work in a fast-paced and unstructured work environment and assertively navigate organizational structures, but with sensitivity and finesse. Research Associates must reliably complete the necessary paperwork and follow procedures effectively, especially in protecting critical assets, such as proprietary databases.

Outstanding Communication Skills: Although outstanding telephone skills are incredibly essential, Research Associates also need excellent overall communications skills. They must demonstrate excellent verbal skills on the telephone, written skills in drafting specifications and references and other required documents, and presentation skills in client situations.

Discretion: Must project an understanding and appreciation for the confidentiality of client and candidate information and protect it as appropriate.

Poise and Presence: Although in-person client contact is not the primary focus of this position, Research Associates interface with very senior people. They must project an image that is a credit to Korn Ferry.

Positive Cultural Influence: Although the Korn Ferry culture is independent and entrepreneurial, a team orientation is becoming increasingly important. At a minimum, the Research Associate must interface well with other office associates but ideally will become a valued and vital part of building a positive culture, raising other associates' job satisfaction levels, and increasing office productivity and retention rates.

Career Ambition: A successful Research Associate career path typically includes opportunities for promotion to Associate and/or Senior Associate, with extensive client contact and business development expectations. Career paths for successful candidates may also include a more senior Research position for a sector or Centre of Excellence cluster.

EDUCATION

An undergraduate degree is required.

Korn Ferry will provide a competitive compensation package, including base salary and incentive compensation based on performance.
