Please note that this is a temporary position for approximately 6 months. This is a hybrid role with the requirement to work in the office 1-2 days a week (with the potential to increase in future).

The role
CBC Communications, Marketing, Brand & Research is looking for a Senior Research Analyst to join our multidisciplinary research team. This role is assigned specifically to the CBC Audience Research Media Solutions Team portfolio and would participate in a variety of data analysis to specifically support revenue generation and sales requests. Additionally, this role will work on various projects relating to CBC\xe2\x80\x99s presence in the broadcast television industry and the ever changing competitive landscape. The role requires proficiency in broadcast audience measurement, extensive experience reporting on key performance metrics, and providing understandable and accurate insights.
Key Tasks include:
  • Analysis of syndicated audience data such as Numeris, Comscore and Vividata;
  • Understanding of the broadcast TV landscape;
  • Creating visually compelling PowerPoint or Google Slide presentations;
  • Producing Sales Materials and Market Reports;
This role requires enthusiasm for broadcast analytics and data storytelling. Media industry or ad agency experience will be considered a strong asset.


We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • Academic and/or professional training in social science research with post-secondary studies in communications, social science, media studies, or relevant discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the media and advertising industry, awareness of general media consumption trends.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical skills and the ability to read, interpret and manipulate all forms of available industry audience measurement data and advertising spend data.
  • Demonstrated expertise of Infosys+, Vividata.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Sheets, and Google Slides is essential.
  • Experience with data visualization software such as Microsoft Power BI or Google Looker would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated competency in creating compelling presentations of data trends and research insights, particularly for the Media Sales environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies and disseminate information to stakeholders, often in non-technical language.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in an ever-changing environment.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to work to a variety of deadlines from long to very short term, and to prioritize and balance several ongoing projects at any one time.
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated independent judgment, initiative and problem solving capability.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to effectively work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to deal diplomatically with confidential, proprietary and sensitive issues both inside and outside the CBC.
