Work at CBC/Radio-Canada

At CBC/Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. Our successes and accomplishments are driven by embodying and upholding values, which include creativity, integrity, inclusiveness and relevance.

Do you think you have the ability and drive to keep up with this exciting, ever-changing industry? Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.

Your role

If you know how to pitch and write audience focused stories, love experimenting with treatments, and you find the conventions of television reporting too restrictive, please read on. You must be a reporter who has some experience field producing longer current affairs reports. Turning around contextual pieces in a breaking news environment under tight deadlines doesn\xe2\x80\x99t phase you one bit. Innovation and creativity have to be in your DNA. People love working with you and may even think you have a great sense of humor. You need to be open to new video storytelling treatments, and be passionate about finding original or underreported stories about the biggest issues facing Canadians and the world. An important part of that is a proven capacity to engage underserved and underrepresented audiences.

Strong on-camera presentation and video producing skills are a prerequisite but not necessarily traditional broadcasting skills. You\xe2\x80\x99re going to be on our biggest video platforms reaching CBC\xe2\x80\x99s largest audiences so make sure you see yourself being in front of the camera with confidence and authenticity. That\xe2\x80\x99s because we want your distinctive life experience, perspective or expertise to enrich The National\xe2\x80\x99s content.

You\xe2\x80\x99re not afraid to go where the story takes you, and that could involve domestic or international travel and work that\xe2\x80\x99s outside a 9 to 5 environment. Proven judgment and experience in applying ethics and journalistic standards are required so your work fits within CBC\xe2\x80\x99s Journalistic Standards and Practices.

This is a one year position based in Toronto.

Please provide us with a reel of your most current and proudest work in your cover letter or resume.

  • Proven ability in the field.
