Work at CBC/Radio-Canada

At CBC/Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. Our successes and accomplishments are driven by embodying and upholding values, which include creativity, integrity, inclusiveness and relevance.

Your role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Producer to oversee CBC North\xe2\x80\x99s talented video team of hosts, producers, videographers, directors, and editors in Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

The Senior Video Producer will play a key role in creating and executing CBC North\xe2\x80\x99s video and Indigenous languages strategy. The successful candidate will oversee our daily television programs - our 30-minute English news program, Northbeat and our 30-minute Inuktitut news program, Igalaaq - and our social media and on demand/streaming video offerings.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong video background. An exceptional journalist and leader, you are passionate about telling the stories of Canada\xe2\x80\x99s North in a video format. You are a strong communicator, able to execute a vision across multiple newsrooms and work with journalists with a variety of experience in video production. In this position, you will produce and contribute to the planning, lineup, design and organization of Northbeat and Igalaaq, and work with producers in newsrooms across the North to assign reporters and cameras, propose program and treatment ideas, and contribute to long term planning and strategic direction.

Reporting to the Managing Editor, you\'ll play a central role in designing and implementing CBC North\xe2\x80\x99s video strategy, and a key editorial role in the production of daily and breaking news.

A strong team leader with the ability to inspire others.

Demonstrated talent as a programmer with an ear for pacing, tone, presentation and production.

Superior writing, editorial and video production skills.

A combination of relevant education or experience equal to that of an education in journalism or broadcasting and five years of relevant experience.

An understanding and awareness of issues and events particular to the North and to daily news across Canada\xe2\x80\x99s territories.

An ability to choose relevant, audience focused stories, which reflect issues being discussed by the general public.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and deadlines.

Strong interpersonal and team playing skills.

Creative, flexible and self-motivated.

Solid journalistic background.
