What you'll do:

CBC New Brunswick seeks an experienced reporter/editor to work primarily on the late web writer shift. In this role, you will write text, edit audio and video, and package thorough, fact-checked, dynamic and compelling stories to connect with audiences across our digital platforms.

You'll work as part of a digital news team of 10 people, and collaborate with field reporters and programmers making news and current affairs programming for New Brunswickers. Your work will be a mix of original stories, breaking news, and stories which draw on the

work of colleagues across all platforms to serve our audience in New Brunswick

and beyond.

Activities:

Pitch and produce original stories that can work as text, audio and video treatments.

Respond quickly to breaking news.

Package stories with the best photos and most engaging video clips, plus links and other media.

Write stories based on gathered interviews or live-streamed events.

Write compelling headlines that work on the website and mobile devices.

Take photos with a DSLR camera.

Write regular analyses on a wide range of issues.

Keep up to date on the changing digital landscape.

Curate the lineup and vet digital articles written by peers.

Keep the audience informed by posting to our digital and social platforms.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

Journalism degree or equivalent experience working in a newsroom.

Ability to generate, pitch and pursue strong story ideas.

Excellent writing skills - analysis in particular.

Proven ability to work collaboratively; strong interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of web, mobile and social media tools and industry trends.

Strong desire to live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture.

Sound news judgment and ability to work effectively under newsroom deadline pressure.

Willingness and ability to work a variety of shifts, including early starts, late finishes and weekends.

Good knowledge of current events and key issues in New Brunswick and the Atlantic provinces.

Possession of a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada's insurance company.
