Job Description

Westport Fuel Systems in Cambridge, Ont. designs and manufactures a comprehensive product mix of alternative fuel components for applications in the light and heavy-duty vehicle and industrial segments globally. This product mix includes Hydrogen (H2) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) components such as pressure regulators, tank valves, PRD's, PRV's, shutoff valves and integrated systems for a wide range of applications, including Fuel Cell vehicles.

Position Purpose




The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring continuous improvement in the quality of production deliverables within the manufacturing environment. This role includes maintaining and modifying the Quality Management System as directed by the Head of Quality and Warranty. Additionally, the position supports supplier development and upholds IATF and other certifications for both automotive and non-automotive applications. The role requires a hands-on working manager who is equipped to address production, customer, and supplier issues on a day-to-day basis.



Role responsibilities



Requires, monitors and verifies customer, supplier and internal Corrective Action Reports of non-conforming materials for timely closure Maintains QRCM (Quick Response Quality Management) log and handles all external quality related issues including compliance to customer specific requirements Coach and directs the quality assurance staff (inspectors, technicians, quality engineering) Administers the quality activities related to continuous improvements and reduction of scrap Lead the maintenance of our IATF 16949 certification Lead responsibility for receiving inspection and calibration of monitoring and measuring devices Lead all activities related to system, layered and product audits Support all departments outside quality, as required Tracking and improving of key performance indicators for quality department Provide input for cross functional design reviews, project reviews and reviews of changes to Control Plans and PFMEAs Follow, update and create new company procedures, work instructions and forms Maintain appropriate records and control budget responsibilities Ensure that PPAPs to customers, review of supplier PPAPs, capability studies, MSA studies, CMM programs are completed in timely manner Generate quality performance reports as required All other duties as assigned

Position Requirements



BS in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience preferred 5-7 years experience in Tier I / II Automotive manufacturing industry Minimum 3 years previous management experience in an Automotive environment Thorough knowledge of ISO9001, and IATF 16949 Standards Knowledge of ISO14001 is an asset Proven knowledge of SPC and its application Proven leadership qualities, excellent communicator and team player Capable of working in a pro-active manner with minimal supervision * Ability to respond to frequent demands in order to meet deadlines
