Position: Senior Quality Engineer
Location: Downtown Toronto / Hybrid
Job Type: 12-month contract with opportunity to extend
Our client, a leader in the fintech space, is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer with Java development background to join their team on a 1-year contract.
You will work closely with Project Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts and Software Developers in an agile team to ensure the development of high-quality, low-defect applications. Test expertise is used in the planning and creation of quality assurance test strategy and plans and the development and execution of automated test cases to ensure that defects are reported as early in the development cycle as possible.
You will ensure that all internally developed applications are functioning as per functional and non-functional requirements and that any defects are captured in the test case management software for prioritization and reporting. The main success criteria for this role is to ensure that a risk-based testing approach is used during the testing cycle that maximizes the testing effort and coverage achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform automated testing script creation and maintenance
- Execute Load-Test and Performance testing duties
- Run and maintain test automation scripts for regression testing
- Report bugs, track defects, resolve issues with software developers
- Ensure that code meets security benchmarks by reviewing and signing off on reports
What you need to succeed:
- 5+ years of related work experience using Java, Automation testing, Selenium, XML/JSON and SQL
- Basic knowledge of the Linux operating system and command-line operations
- Experience with Jira, CI/CD, REST, Confluence, Git, Qtest, cucumber and Jenkins is an asset
- Experience with the following technologies: Azure Data Services, REST APIs, sFTP, Apache Tomcat, LDAP, XML/JSON data formats
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to train and mentor junior staff
