Description Hitachi Rail STS USA is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Installation Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of engineering tasks from technical to administrative and strategic. The candidate will define and manage the Engineering Installation integration design for all the wayside equipment and installation scope of work which includes installation interface processes between the different sub-systems as well as the third parties (e.g. civil, utilities, etc.). The position is based in Missisagua, Canada. Accountabilities: Responsible for management of Quality Assurance activities for the Hurontario Light Rail Transit project. As the on-site Project Quality Assurance Manager, the candidate will be responsible for:

  • Interfacing with the project and consortium level team as well as subcontractors and suppliers to ensure the proper execution of the project in accordance with applicable planning documents and contractual requirements;
  • Quality interface with primary subcontractors and responsible for unified approach to quality between all subcontractors and the program level organization including supporting the integration of the systems from a quality assurance perspective;
  • Interfacing with and completely familiar with all ongoing quality functions being performed by Hitachi Rail STS (STS) and its Subcontractors and suppliers;
  • Creation and maintenance of Hurontario project quality planning documents for STS;
  • Evaluating problems and verifying resolutions, including ordering rework or replacement for any non-conforming Work;
  • Support for the identification, management and closure of project nonconformance, ensuring corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner to address the non- nonconformance;
  • Ensure the identification of any supplier and vendor issues/ problems and the sharing of these issues/ problems with all relevant Company units;
  • Ensure the implementation of all quality assurance activities required to solve any supplier/ vendor issues/ problems;
  • Ensure the preparation of a yearly internal and external quality audit program and implement the activities in accordance with the program schedule and defined methodology;
  • Reporting on any relevant project quality risks, quality issues, and concerns to the Quality Director;
  • Witnessing inspections of various systems, subsystems or products, including First Article Inspections (e.g., supporting Engineering);
  • Establishing an on-site Quality Assurance program based upon the contract requirements and the STS Integrated Management System/ Global Business Management System;
  • Primary quality interface with the customer counterpart;
  • Supporting the on-site Program team regarding all Quality Assurance activities;
  • Preparation of the Quality Management Report for the Safety Case in accordance with EN50126 and EN 50129 standards;
  • Ensure the definition, planning and implementation of all Company activities required for the achievement of the STS quality certifications (e.g. ISO 9001).
Required Skills & Experience
  • 7-10 Years Business Experience as QA Engineer in a Project environment overseeing the delivery of CBTC contracts of a similar scope and complexity:
  • University Degree (Engineering) or Equivalent Technical background;
  • Demonstrate successful completion of an ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor Course (CQA);
  • Manage Quality Assurance for a Project greater than 100M;
  • Experience auditing systems, processes, and products (hardware and software) both internally and externally;
  • Experience in reading technical documents, drawings and / or schematics;
  • Experience in Software Quality Assurance, Hardware Quality Assurance, and Configuration Management;
  • Experience in Quality Management within the public transit industry;
  • Experience in working with Quality Management Systems;
  • Knowledge and implementation experience of applicable standards (e.g, ISO 9001:2015, IEEE 730:2014, EN50126, EN50128, etc.) ;
  • Knowledge of Auditing Standards (ISO 19011) and techniques
  • Knowledge of FTA Quality Management System Guidelines;
  • Knowledge of quality methods (such as PDCA,etc.);
  • Process Management Knowledge and organization techniques
  • Knowledge of Risk and Opportunity Management;
  • Knowledge of Project Management;
  • Knowledge of cost estimating techniques and budgeting;
  • Experience in using suite of MS office tools;
  • Must be fluent in English;
  • Good communication skills in relaying technical information via verbal or written communication;
  • Team player;
  • Good problem solving skills.
