Position Summary

The Senior Public Practice Accountant will be responsible for preparing and reviewing complex tax filings, completing compliance requirements, preparing working paper files, and communicating directly with clients and the Canada Revenue Agency. This role requires strong technical skills, sound professional judgment, and the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare complex

personal (T1)

,

corporate (T2)

, and

estate/trust (T3)

income tax returns Complete related tax compliance filings including

GST/HST

,

T4

,

T5

, and other information returns Prepare high-quality

working paper files

for compilation engagements (Notice to Reader) Communicate with the

Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)

on behalf of clients to resolve inquiries and issues Assist in year-end planning, tax research, and ad-hoc advisory work Work collaboratively with other staff members in a small-office environment Maintain strong client relationships through clear, timely communication

Qualifications

Minimum

3 years of accounting and tax experience

within a public practice accounting firm Strong understanding of Canadian income tax rules for individuals, corporations, and trusts Experience with T1, T2, T3 professional tax software. Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO) required Strong technical skills in accounting and working paper preparation Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management abilities Ability to work independently with minimal supervision CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA considered an asset but not required
