Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Directorate Overview The CRA promotes compliance with Canada\xe2\x80\x99s tax legislation and regulations and plays an important role in the economic and social well-being of Canadians. We are looking for dynamic and resourceful individuals to join ATIP as Senior Public Affairs Advisor. We have an opportunity on the following team:
  • Access to Information Policy & Governance Section
The Senior Public Affairs Advisor will provide expert advice on ATIP matters, stay current on emerging ATIP trends and issues, and coordinate various ATIP projects including training, awareness and governance activities. Who can apply Employees of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) AND Federal public service employees in organizations found under Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act AND eligible veterans and Canadian Forces members AND individuals with preferred status who live or work within the general rule of minimum distance of the position(s) being staffed. Virtual reporting may be possible, if operational requirements permit. Others positions will be staffed in the National Capital Region. Note: For this staffing process, please note that it is not required to submit any additional documents to the staffing committee. Essential staffing requirements To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements. Education
  • A degree from a recognized postsecondary institution.

Experience The following experience must have been gained at the SP-08 and/or MG-04 (AS-05, GT-05, IS-04, OM-04, PG-04, PM-05) level or above within an ATIP office:
  • Experience* in the application of exemptions and exclusions of the Access to Information Act (ATIA) and the Privacy Act (PA) or the execution of tasks associated with ATIA and PA Delegation Orders. AND
  • Experience* writing various reports including briefing notes, speaking notes or presentations for senior management** AND
  • Experience* collaborating with stakeholders to address complex*** issues.
  • Experience is normally associated with the performance of these functions as part of the major job duties accomplished at the SP-08 or MG-04 level or above for a period of 2 cumulative years in the last 5 years.
** Senior management is defined as a person of authority in an organization who is involved in policy making or program implementation. This would be at the MG-06 level or equivalent (EX-01 minus 1), and/or above. ***Complex means an environment with at least two of the following characteristics: multidimensional, involving many partners or stakeholders, creating a precedent or having a major impact on the organization, or having the potential for significant media coverage. Asset staffing requirements We may use the following asset staffing requirement to screen applications. Make sure to clearly demonstrate how you meet them on your application.
  • Experience* in developing policy and/or procedures.
  • Experience is normally associated with the performance of these functions as part of the major job duties accomplished at the SP-08 or MG-04 level or above for a period of 2 cumulative years in the last 5 years.
