About the faculty/service: Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation:

The Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation sets the strategic direction and oversees the administration of the University of Ottawa\'s research enterprise, including funding, equipment and facilities, international collaborations, partnerships and business development.

Position purpose:

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Office of Strategic Development Initiatives, provides leadership and acts as a resource person and main contact prior to and after research infrastructure contracts are awarded and, in this capacity, serves as the liaison between the University of Ottawa and funding agencies, affiliated institutes, partner institutions and members of the Strategic Project Management Group (SPMG).

Provides support and advice of the highest quality to administrators of the faculties and affiliated institutes as well as to researchers in order to increase the number of research infrastructure projects, external funding and, as a result, the University\'s national and international reach and research intensity.

What you will bring:

  • Knowledge of project management theory and practices normally acquired through a university education in management, or a college diploma in management and at least five years\' experience in the field (academic scientific training considered an asset)
  • Extensive knowledge of University policies, procedures and management systems
  • Extensive knowledge of academic research, funding agencies and, in particular, the structure, funding, programs, policies and processes of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and Ontario Research Funds (ORF)
  • Minimum of two years\' experience in project management handling complex and large-scale projects
  • Experience preparing research funding proposals and drafting and administering interinstitutional agreements
  • Experience working at one of the main research offices of a university considered an asset
  • Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously and to work effectively under pressure Ability to build and maintain good relationships with many stakeholders and counterparts in other organizations
  • Ability to use software and computer systems such as Windows, financial applications (e.g., FAST, BANNER), Microsoft Office products, databases, email and the Internet
  • Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution and business management skills
  • Ability to coordinate a multifunctional team
  • Bilingualism - French and English (excellent spoken and written language abilities required)
