Your Opportunity:AHS entered a 3-year contract with the Institute for Healthcare Optimization (IHO) to improve surgical flow at the sites representing 90% of surgical volume across Alberta. The overarching role of the Senior Project Manager (Senior PM) will be to support MHRH and CRH through the IHO process, and to support coordination between MHRH/CRH and IHO. The PM will report to the Manager and work directly with IHO, identified site resources, and identified physician participants. This position must be located within the South Zone. The Senior PM plays a leadership role in building project management capability in AHS through the delivery of the IHO methodology. The Senior PM role requires specialized and advanced expertise, knowledge and skill, along with considerable experience within healthcare environments where consensus building across groups with different goals is imperative to success. enter information in this field.Description:The Senior PM is responsible for and provides leadership to project management activities across all stages of a project, often including pre-project activities and spanning project initiation, planning and execution, implementation, evaluation, and closure. The Senior PM actively participates in decision making meetings and has decision making authority within the span set out by the Director within the context of IHO methodologies and project management structures. The Senior PM applies project management methodology and expertise, effectively facilitates diverse groups addressing complex issues, and skillfully engages stakeholders to develop effective and efficient solutions and health services. The Senior PM applies knowledge management practices and expertise to effectively manage project knowledge and contribute to organizational learning. The Senior PM must possess the skills to use data and information to effectively advance quality and innovation. The Senior PM is committed to quality improvement and appropriately applies change management and process improvement principles, knowledge and expertise. The Senior PM works with a high degree of independence on assigned projects and in the delivery of other CPSS services, with guidance in only the most complex situations. The Senior PM works within a team-based and matrix resourcing environment and may supervise staff or lead functional teams or projects. Required Qualifications:A Master\'s or research-based degree in a health-related field. Relevant project management specific education, training, or certification in project management from an accredited institution. Additional Required Qualifications:5 years of progressive experience in project management, including knowledge of project management principles, tools and methodologies. Considerable experience with coordinating/leading teams through project planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a unique project environment where project resources and subject matter experts have limited availability to contribute; demonstrated ability to move projects forward within these constraints. Experience working directly with clinicians; comfortable communicating with physicians, other health care professionals and executives. Experience leading project teams and large projects within a healthcare organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Ability to develop and facilitate presentations to convey information or transfer knowledge. Strong organizational skills, influential skills, client-focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Experience with MS Office suite, including MS Project and Visio, and MS Teams. Proven ability to foster relationships and partnerships with complex and varied internal and external individuals and groups. Ability to work independently, prioritize and meet deadlines. Demonstrated application of systems thinking, and change management. Preferred Qualifications:Experience designing and delivering education to adult learners. Training in process improvement and health services planning is an asset. Extensive knowledge of the health system and healthcare issues Significant experience in critical-thinking, analysis, problem-solving, negotiation, investigation.
