Job Description

The Alberta Post-Secondary Application System (APAS) owns and operates ApplyAlberta, a web-based student support system designed to simplify the process of applying for admission to post-secondary programs at Alberta's 26 publicly-funded post-secondary institutions.

The work of APAS is done as part of a larger integrated and interrelated post-secondary technology environment. APAS is looking for a dynamic individual that is passionate about supporting access to higher education. We are seeking an individual that is problem solving oriented and extremely organized.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, the Senior Policy Analyst will lead policy review, research and development for the organization. They will provide advice and administrative support to the leadership team and board.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading the planning and coordination of policy reviews and development from analysis through to implementation. Researching and supporting resolution of business process and policy issues. Develop and maintain a policy planning roadmap for the organization. Provide advice and project support to the leadership team. Drafting of reports, briefings and presentations for leadership to understand issues. Contribute to the day-to-day administrative operations of the organization. Provide back up to Issues Manager in supporting the executive. Preparation of materials for board of directors and board committees. Perform other delegated duties as required.
Skills and Knowledge:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent writing and editing skills with experience drafting briefings and presentations for leadership. High degree of organization and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High level of independence and self-management. Demonstrated experience with project management. Ability to gather information from disparate sources and synthesize into documents and project planning. Knowledge of non-profit funding would be considered an asset. Knowledge of human resources policies and processes would be considered an asset.
Qualifications:

A university degree in political science, social sciences, public policy or related. Minimum 4 years experience in policy development, project management or administration (or equivalent experience) Experience in the post-secondary education or public sector is an asset.

Pay: $79,500.00-$103,500.00 per year
