The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Strategy and Innovation, you will be responsible to:
Support the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensive and integrated planning and accountability framework across the organization and pension and benefits boards;
Lead the execution of strategic and annual planning processes, including the collection of planning inputs and facilitating the prioritization of short- and long-term goals and initiatives;
Manage performance reporting and accountability activities, including internal and external reports and facilitation of performance to plan reporting;
Facilitate collaboration across the organization to support strategic and operational priorities, including planning, business development, and process improvement;
Proactively develop and refine planning and accountability processes to enable data-driven decision-making, enhance collaboration, and support strategic objectives;
Lead and participate in strategic and operational projects, working groups and committees; and
Communicate, both verbally and in writing, to a wide variety of clients and stakeholders in a manner appropriate for each group.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is proactive with a strong strategic mindset, excellent communication and relationship management skills, who thrives in a collaborative and dynamic environment. Key attributes include:
3-5 years of experience in strategic planning, business strategy, or corporate performance, with demonstrated ability to apply strategic planning and accountability in a practical, integrated way.
Knowledge of project management, change management, continuous improvement and research methods, principles and processes;
Experience using creative problem solving to address complex challenges through research, analysis and innovation;
Advanced communication and interpersonal skills including negotiation, facilitation and consensus building with senior managers, boards of directors, or similar governing bodies;
Strong written and verbal communication skills to advise, inform, and influence a variety of stakeholders;
Advanced skills using digital tools (e.g., Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Canva) to develop clear, visually engaging and professional communications; and
Ability to plan and organize multiple tasks and projects to meet strict and/or changing deadlines.
Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through a combination of:
Completion of post-secondary education in public/business administration, social sciences, economics, or commerce; and
A combination of other education and experience in strategic planning, business strategy, or corporate performance management.
Assets:
Knowledge of Canadian best practices in pension and benefits administration;
Project or change management certification;
Experience with business development, risk management and governance processes; and/or
Relevant courses or education in the pension industry.
