ABOUT THE ROLE




We are looking for a Senior Payroll Clerk to join our finance team. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely payments, validation of payroll information, and resolving payroll discrepancies, the ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of payroll regulations, payroll processes, labour laws, taxation, and handling payroll audits and compliance assessments.

$75,000 - $85,000

RESPONISIBILITIES



Manage end-to-end payroll processing Prepare payroll reports, including various payroll reports Conduct regular payroll audits and ensure compliance with all federal and provincial labour laws, tax regulations and statutory requirements Collaborate with human resources and finance departments to integrate payroll and employee data Administer and maintain payroll systems to ensure data accuracy and implement system upgrades, enhancements and efficient process updates Monitor and resolve payroll discrepancies Lead and train payroll team on new and existing payroll procedures and processes Assist in the creation of year-end employee tax slips or forms for submission to the government before deadlines Identify areas for improvement within payroll processes and ensure processes and procedures are updated and maintained Lead implementation of new payroll processes and systems when required Maintain confidential information by adhering to legal and ethical standards Delegate, review, train, and coach payroll team Assist in the preparation of cost forecasts and budgets yearly

QUALIFICATIONS



Minimum 5-7 years of payroll experience College Diploma or University degree in Business or related program required Advanced knowledge of payroll systems and accounting processes Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects or assignments at one time and ability to multitask Strong problem identification and resolution skills Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining compliance and regulatory standards Work well under pressure and stressful situations Advanced experience working with Microsoft programs and other accounting software Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in an ethical manner Strong problem identification and resolution skills Strong time management skills Construction Payroll experience considered an asset Familiarity with Jonas software considered an asset Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll principles and employment standards
