Reporting to the Comptroller, the Junior Payroll Clerk will work with Senior Payroll Clerk and conduct the payroll and benefits administration for all 'Namgis First Nation's and affiliated companies' staff when requested. The position will conduct the reporting and file maintenance of workplace injury reports to WCB. Other duties include petty cash custodian, periodic reporting to government agencies, DFO, ISC, and OSFI. Being a back-up for payable processing (honoraria, travel, contracts, staff claims, petty cash & others) and the back-up for counter deposit and deposit/receipt and the administration of Nimpkish Fisheries flow-thru funds.
Job Duties:
Processes bi-weekly payroll.
Ensures compliance with all statutory reporting and payment requirements (taxes, employment insurances, Canada Pension Plan, Workers' Compensation Board, ISC, etc...).
Prepares record of employment, as required, and needed.
Prepares monthly reconciliation of payroll-related general ledger account codes.
Orients new hires of benefits and ensures that required forms are signed and submitted for 'Namgis First Nation and affiliated nation companies when requested.
Informs all personnel of benefit updates or changes. Responsible for the record keeping and reporting of the staff pension and extended benefit plans
Handle all workplace injury reports and file necessary form with Worksafe BC; and
Prepares and remits all requirements to Worksafe BC.
Disburses payments, through the petty cash, which are within the 'Namgis First Nation policies and
procedures.
Monthly preparation and submission of Village of Alert Bay claims for Sewage Treatment plant
Monthly preparation and submission of the Tax return for exempt sale of tobacco fuel tax to the Province
Management of the submission of the annual Pension return
Accounts Payable Processing (honoraria, travel, contracts, staff claims, petty cash & others) as a last resource for the accounts payable clerk including periodically to fill operational requirements.
Qualifications:
Enrolment or completion of Post Secondary Course in Accounting or Finance (Diploma/Degree/CPA/CMA/ACCA)
Ability to work with minimum supervision and to work autonomously.
