Job Summary

The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for the service and experience of the operation across multiple locations, with a rich history of excellence and a commitment to providing exceptional dining experiences. Motivates, trains, develops and directs team members to deliver exceptional service and accomplish daily goals and projects. This position oversees administrative and operational tasks, including financial management and analysis, sanitation and HSQA programs. Attention to detail is a must. The role will focus on hospitality and the cafe and catering experience for the food program of a cutting edge tech company located in downtown Kitchener, in order to support operational excellence. This position reports into the District Manager of Operations and will leverage their strong communication, hospitality and operational skills to partner with key stakeholders to promote standards, food program expectations and enhance user experience.

This on-site role will be based in Waterloo, Ontario at a high-end Tech company with a progressive workplace with one of the top food programs in the world.

The great things you will be expected to do:
  • Operational Oversight: Assist the DM in overseeing the kitchen, dining room, coffee bar, catering and front of house staff to ensure seamless operations and exceptional customer service.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels, conduct regular audits, and place orders as necessary to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize wastage.
  • Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety and quality assurance regulations and industry standards. Implement policies and procedures to maintain compliance with all required policies and procedures, and support a safe working environment.
  • Staff Development: Support associate and manager training and development initiatives to enhance team skills and service quality. Provide guidance and mentorship to foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Collaborate with the team to exceed customer expectations, address feedback, and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
What you bring to this role:
  • Food Service Experience: Demonstrated experience in multi-unit, large scale food service operations, with a solid understanding of kitchen management, dining room service, catering and front of house operations.
  • People-Centered Approach: The ability to set and maintain exceptional hospitality that is friendly and engaging.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and inspire a diverse team. Ability to work collaboratively with other managers and unionized associates.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational abilities, including inventory management, scheduling, and coordination of tasks to ensure efficient operations.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with provincial and local health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with associates, customers, and stakeholders.
