Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide professional engineering support at our Sudbury Location. This position requires a registered Professional Engineer, with senior level experience. The successful candidates will be required to work in support of large and small projects while supporting the team technically and encouraging individual development. This is a chance to help develop a winning team in support of Wood\'s growth in the Sudbury region.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Professional services \xe2\x80\x93 Act as a consultant to clients
  • Manage, prioritize and complete design projects for various clients
  • Provide guidance / mentorship and coordinate project work with other Engineers, Technicians, Designers and /or Drafters
  • Assist in transforming preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs
  • Conduct research and analysis, and recommend designs
  • Identify broad conceptual ideas and develop them into useful solutions
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, identify, evaluate, propose, implement, and document engineering solutions
  • Collaborate with clients, suppliers, vendors, and other disciplines to gather information to write reports and complete mechanical design
  • Support the development of project budgets and schedules via experience and the development of material take-offs
  • Provide technical expertise / support / mentorship to the Wood Mechanical Team
  • Provide technical direction to construction contractors in the mechanical disciplines and assess the quality of their work in the field
  • Maintain and develop client relationships
  • Participate in office, jobsite and safety meetings
  • Work as a collaborative team member in the growth of our services
Skills / Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution with a Professional Engineer designation
  • 12+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Mechanical Engineering, preferably in an industrial setting
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, codes, standards, and equipment to the design and production of various products
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Time management skills are necessary to manage the various design projects
  • Conducting oneself in a professional manner with honesty and integrity
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to successfully prioritize, and organize projects, deadlines, and tasks with little supervision in team environments
