Wood is seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer in Calgary, AB to join our busy and growing Oil & Gas Canada team due to growth in our business!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Mechanical Discipline Lead on projects: plan, manage, and coordinate the mechanical engineering activities on large and/or technically complex projects and assignments.
  • Lead a project team of mechanical engineers and designers including coordination of design work and technical input and coordination across project wide, multi-discipline design to ensure cost effective, efficient, safe, and timely completion.
  • Work and communicate with project management team, including providing regular progress and schedule reporting.
  • Liaise and work with other engineering disciplines: Piping Design, Process, Instrumentation & Controls, Procurement and Material Control, CSA, Electrical, etc.
  • Coordinate and oversee the development of resource planning, scope, schedule, and budget for the project discipline team.
  • Assure that all work on assigned projects is timely, accurate, and of high technical quality performed to organizational and project standards and codes.
  • Serve as an advisor and mentor to other technical personnel on design, processes, engineering methods, and interpretation of codes and standards.
  • Managing the generation and completion of Mechanical deliverables on projects, including, specifications, data sheets, equipment lists, RFQ/RFP\xe2\x80\x99s, bid evaluations, technical reports, etc.
  • Generating technical decision records and project decision records as related to Mechanical engineering
Skills / Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years in a Lead Mechanical Engineer role.
  • Minimum 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in EPCM multi-national companies
  • Sound knowledge in Mechanical design and equipment, including rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, etc.), stationary equipment (vessels, exchangers, tanks, etc.)
  • Sound knowledge of industry codes (ASME, API, Canadian Codes, etc.) is essential
  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA
  • Canadian experience in conceptual, front-end and detail engineering on various large capital projects in oil & gas, oilsands including refinery, upgrader, SAGD, and petro-chemicals
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada at the time of application
