The Scotia Digital Planning Team is a high-performing, flexible team that operates at the intersection of the business, technology, product, design and delivery accountable for the planning of prospective Scotia Digital projects. We work closely with business and technology partners across the bank, as well as Scotia Digital senior management, business operations teams, product teams, engineering teams, and delivery professionals to plan the projects that advance Scotia Digital?s and the Bank?s strategy.
Reporting into the Director, Planning Operations, the Senior Manager, Planning, is a senior individual contributor and business professional, accountable for the execution, efficiency and effectiveness of planning a portfolio of potential projects within the bounds of the Scotia Digital Planning cycle.
Is this role right for you?

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout the team and organization to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • As a senior individual contributor, leads a matrix team of planning resources and is accountable for the efficiency and effectiveness of planning for a specific portfolio of proposed projects and initiatives.
  • Leads and controls all planning efforts for an assigned portfolio of projects through the Scotia Digital Planning cycle protecting the life/work balance of all team members, participants, and stakeholders and making planning a great experience for all involved.
  • Govern and control prioritized planning efforts aligned to Digital?s strategy and business line priorities that don?t exceed staff?s available capacity, meeting service level metrics, ensuring entrance/exit criteria are met for all stages of planning, and proactively managing the expectations of the Digital organization and the requesting line of business
  • Use a data-driven approach to evaluating areas of improvement and propose and manage leading and lagging key performance indicators of planning operations to see around corners and eliminate issues before they drag on the portfolio and participating teams
  • Collaborate with other Senior Managers and Directors from other Planning Portfolios on: KPIs, Dashboards and pipeline data completeness and quality for assigned portfolios; Governance, controls & thresholds for assigned portfolios; Process improvements for assigned portfolios
  • Ensures high-quality communications are produced for the assigned portfolio of projects that distill complex concepts about assigned projects in easy-to-understand formats for consumption by a wide variety of stakeholders including senior leadership
  • Ensures that entrance and exit criteria of each stage in the Scotia Digital Planning cycle is met within defined SLAs and prioritization guidelines, generating all required outputs with necessary reviews and approvals
  • Ensures that the operational implications of planned projects are considered and planned for, and the operational metrics of planning activities are updated, executed, and measured
  • Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships with Product Managers, Engineering Leads, Planning Managers, Planning Coordinators, and other project and portfolio stakeholders to optimize Planning cycle efficiency
  • Observes processes and proposes improvements to continually improve planning efficiency and effectiveness within Scotia Digital and Scotiabank

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • 7-10 years of Project Management and planning experience, with experience in large enterprises, preferably in the banking industry
  • Significant experience leading a team through the planning of projects that have multiple stakeholders and matrix team dependencies
  • Bachelor?s degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, or related discipline
  • Graduate degree in business or related field is an asset
  • Scrum Master certification or PMP certification is an asset
  • Understanding of Agile project management principles and practices and experience planning projects in an Agile environment
