Within the context of a client and family centred model of care and, in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care (PHC), the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.

Reporting to the Corporate Director, Leadership, Talent and Organizational Development, the Senior Manager, Leadership and Talent Development is responsible for ensuring the design and delivery of strategic leadership/management and talent development programs and processes. The Senior Manager is responsible for the design and development of all relevant service program models and ensures practical tools, resources and system are in place. Focus areas include developing and implementing leadership development pathways, education consultation, curriculum development, as well as, effective succession and talent development practices aimed at building a strong leadership bench in the organization. Additional responsibilities include overseeing centralized program evaluation and reporting, best-practice research and professional development, maintaining portfolio intranet site and online education tools and resources, including technology enabled learning, and PHC\xe2\x80\x99s learning management system. Qualifications / Skills and Education:
QUALIFICATIONS
Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in a related discipline such as Organization Development, Leadership and Learning or Business Administration plus seven (7) to nine (9) years\xe2\x80\x99 recent experience in organizational development and management/leadership education roles in a large organization, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated knowledge of leadership development principles and theory, and ability to design, deliver, and evaluate leadership development programs.
  • Proven ability to influence, educate, and gain support of senior leaders for leadership and talent development, the role leaders play in developing other leaders, and the activities needed to support effective leadership and talent development.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to foster a motivating, encouraging and respectful work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; facilitates, collaborates and negotiates with others, and has the ability to persuade and influence.
  • Capacity to manage competing priorities to develop and implement time-sensitive initiatives in support of the leadership and talent development strategy within the context of a changing, complex, ambiguous environment.
  • Extremely proactive and self-managed, naturally inquisitive, desire to continuously improve current business practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Oversees the development and implementation of leadership/management development plans, standards, policies and procedures to support leadership/management development pathways.
2. Responsible for building the leadership capability needed to support growth, by designing and delivering programs and curricula across all levels of leadership. Identifies leadership development needs and designs programs that close current leadership gaps as well as develop future capability.
3. Manages the development (or purchase) of specific development programs; conducts needs assessments concerning educational interventions; develops plans, strategies, budgets and times lines; oversees design and development of course descriptions, participant materials, course evaluation tools and registration criteria.
4. Leads the planning, implementation and evaluation of development programs that cultivate, engage and develop talent, with a focus on building a pipeline of future leadership talent.
5. Partners with leaders across PHC, including executive leadership, to proactively assess talent development needs, identify talent gaps, and delivery of talent development solutions.
6. Manages core talent development practices including guidance on how to identify potential successors, consulting on leadership continuity risks, providing coaching and development support to nominated potential successors, and coaching of new-to-role senior leaders to ensure they are successful in their roles.
7. Supports the design, implementation and continuous improvement of PHC\xe2\x80\x99s talent review and succession management processes.
8. Manages the on-line course calendar, oversees on-line registration system processes and PHC\xe2\x80\x99s learning management system in partnership with the provincial mandate (ie: Learning Hub).
9. Actively engaging in personal ongoing learning and development. Continuously building and improving skills and knowledge, bringing new insights and connections to the work we do.
10. Collaborating closely with colleagues in the Leadership, Talent and Organizational Development portfolio, Office of Strategy and Results team and People teams, sharing your expertise and ensuring strong alignment between our Leadership and Talent Development strategies, PHC\xe2\x80\x99s Mission: Forward Strategic Plan and the People teams activities to drive high quality and meaningful outcomes. This includes participating in cross-functional projects as and when required.
11. Provides overall leadership and direction to team members using effective management techniques (e.g., coaching, mentoring, skill and leadership development, performance management).
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
