Department Overview

Environment, Social & Governance Credit Risk Management (ESG-CRM) under Non-Financial Risk Management (NFRM) is responsible for the identification, assessment, remediation and reporting of climate risk within TDBG's credit portfolio. The group is accountable for ensuring that the risks associated with climate change are incorporated into the broader assessment of how TD's credit products and exposures fit within TD's Risk Appetite. ESG-CRM provides strategic guidance, advice and independent challenge to support TD in achieving its climate objectives in the broader context of meeting its strategic objectives.

Reporting to the Vice President, ESG-CRM, the Senior Manager will lead the team responsible for developing portfolio level analysis and risk controls to support the effective management of climate risk within TD's Retail and Non-Retail lending portfolios across the Banks' global footprint. The successful candidate will need to lead a team covering a wide variety of topics in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment for an emerging high-profile area of focus.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Lead a team of 3-4 individuals while leveraging the broader organization and ESG Risk team to make meaningful progress in our understanding and management of climate risk within the credit portfolio
  • Given a broad range of initiatives and areas of enhancement, provide thought leadership and strategic and tactical recommendations on the prioritization of deliverables and an iterative approach to delivery
  • Build for the future by attracting, motivating and retaining a highly diverse, qualified and engaged team to achieve business objectives
  • Coordinate the execution of ESG scenario analysis for the Credit Portfolio, working closely with partners across ESG-Risk, the Businesses, Model Development and Loss Forecasting
  • Manage the process to quantify and understand the implications of climate scenario analysis on the credit portfolio, leveraging credit expertise to develop sensitivity analysis and strategic insights
  • Develop Climate Credit Risk Action Plans, working with our Business and 2A Credit Risk partners to increase our preparedness, including establishing an inventory of potential actions that could be taken to mitigate climate risk and identifying and prioritizing any associated system and data enhancements
  • Work with Credit Risk Policy to systematically embed climate risk considerations into industry risk ratings, credit concentration limits (e.g., industry, geography, asset classes) and business strategy reviews
  • Support the ongoing enhancements of the Climate Credit Risk Dashboard to continue to focus on articulating the 'so what' and add granularity
  • Maintain the E&S Credit Risk Policy to reflect TD's climate risk appetite and governance approach
