The National Drafting Manager has overall responsibility and ownership for leading the Drafting teams across Canada. They lead the team, from Detailers, Checkers, to Drafting Managers, to a high-quality standard and the growth of the business. The National Drafting Manager will also be working with our internal shared services such as HSE, engineering, estimating, fabrication, supply-chain, and IT for the successful delivery of projects. The National Drafting Manager provides leadership to deliver quality projects, strategically manage risk, and ensure each phase of work is delivered on time. Other key responsibilities include Quality Management and leading the overall process of continual improvement.

Work Duties

• Provides leadership and vision for the National WesTower drafting organization.
• Implements drafting initiatives like, mentorship, standardization, and training programs.
• Maintain and build new relationships with outside drafting sub-consultants.
• Communicate directly with department leads (HSE, Eng., Fab, Purchasing, Warehousing, IT).
• Work with the leadership team to develop new drafting opportunities (non-telecom).
• Support for high profile specialized projects, i.e., shelters, buildings, custom Towers, etc.
• Lead from the front, driving pace, accuracy, and standardization of the drafting organization.
• Supervise, lead, and support drafting team members.
• Assist in scheduling, prioritizing, and work distribution.
• Analyze drafting budgets and timelines.
• Annual drafting department goal setting.
• Lead regular lessons learned and Lunch & Learn sessions.
• Develop standardized processes including change management.
• Approves new hires for the drafting team.
• Analyze data from NCR's and other KPI's.

Requirements

• 10+ years' experience as a Senior Steel Detailer/Checker/Manager.
• Proven success in leading high-performance teams, achieving results through others, and being a strong team player.
• The ideal candidate would be a Certified Technician with AutoDesk Advance Steel, or similar 3-D detailing programs with telecommunications experience.
• Proficient AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word & Excel, etc.), Adobe and Bluebeam.
• Ability to demonstrate communication skills necessary for conflict management and resolution.
• Capability to inspire and influence teams to in line with company vision and direction.
• Ability to maintain professional working relationships with co-workers and clients.
• Must be reliable, trustworthy, and have a positive attitude.
• Must be able to manage a team working in the office and remotely (hybrid model).
