Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Senior Manager, Convenience Store (C-Store) Category Development on a permanent basis on our Food team. This position is a hybrid opportunity that can be based anywhere in Western Canada.


In this role you will lead the execution of the C-Store category strategy, working closely with C-store operations to achieve business goals and budget expectations. What you'll do:

Lead and support C-Store programs, including category management, food service, and beverage counter, ensuring food safety requirements are met in collaboration with Operations. Monitor and adjust new product launches and programs using category management data to ensure financial and operational success, considering market trends and geographical differences. Oversee Category Managers and Specialists to achieve efficient category assortments, ensuring proper analysis, review, and implementation across CRS retail locations. Leverage supplier relationships to improve category management processes, including pricing, product assortment, and promotional support, while assisting in vendor negotiations. In collaboration with C-store operations, lead and coordinate C-store Department projects, and initiatives.

The Team:

Reporting into the Director, Category Management, you will lead a team of composed of a Category Manager & Specialists. You will work closely with Zone Operation Managers & Advisors (OAs), the Senior Manager of Pricing & Promotions, the Senior Manager of Product Development and the Supervisor of Shelf Management to ensure pricing, store brand execution, and shelf planograms align with the category management strategy. This team strives to cultivate a culture that is high-performing, results-oriented, and business savvy.

You will demonstrate customer focus while communicating with Operations and local Co-ops to support their customers.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Category Management and:


Have 8+ years of relevant progressively responsible experience in marketing, operations, or Category Management in the retail food industry, including 3+ years management experience. Have a bachelor's degree in commerce, business, or marketing (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered). Have experience with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
