Hiring #: 2023-0141 Please read the Application Instructions before applying Reporting to the Dean, this role is responsible for managing the Ontario Agricultrual College\xe2\x80\x99s (OAC) communications and marketing activities, including strategic communications and marketing planning and the development of communications and marketing materials appropriate for the various OAC audiences and stakeholders (internal and external), especially prospective students, domestic and international. Working closely with the OAC leadership team, and other stakeholders across the University, the position provides day-to-day OAC communications and marketing management and advice, including the development, implementation and evaluation of OAC\xe2\x80\x99s communications and marketing initiatives, in accordance with the College\xe2\x80\x99s strategic priorities. The manager is responsible for:
Overseeing and enhancing internal and external OAC communications and marketing, developing a culture of positive, engaged, and integrated communications across OAC
Ensuring a dedicated focus on nimble marketing efforts that adapt to changing market needs and that complement central initiatives and avoid duplication
Providing expertise, implementation, and oversight of publications (marketing materials, e-newsletters etc.), websites, social media, photos and videos, exhibits, and event communications, aligning to College and University-wide standards and recruitment activity
Handling challenging situations where agreement is difficult to maintain with tact and diplomacy; creating strong working relationships with leadership, staff, and faculty to ensure effective and efficient implementation of strategies.
Developing a community of collaboration, support, and effectiveness in marketing and communication
Providing strategic advice and plans for decision-making in relation to OAC marketing, communications, public relations, and management of communications-related initiatives, activities, and event.
Leading the OAC marketing and communications team, including OAC\xe2\x80\x99s liaison portfolio
The manager is responsible for supporting strong strategic communications and marketing across OAC including in the academic units and Ridgetown Campus, and must be able to work in challenging situations, acting as a central media and information resource for OAC-related inquiries and requests (both internal and external). Job Requirements
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Communications, Marketing, Public Relations/other)
A minimum of 5 years of related work experience
Demonstrated understanding of OAC disciplines, spanning food, agricultural, communities and the environmental
Experience leading and managing a team.
Exceptional project and time management skills
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within the post-secondary sector and academic environment.
Proven ability to achieve consensus and buy-in with a diverse group of stakeholders (internal and external) on new or challenging projects.
Technical proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, CMS platforms (such as Drupal)
Proven ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and policies quickly
